Scribe? Sweet!

What is a scribe?

In ancient cultures, particularly the Egyptians, scribes were workers who were responsible for writing down all the goings-on of the society. It was considered among the most important jobs in the culture. If you were literate (meaning, you can read or write), you were more than likely a scribe.

So, what does this mean for this class?

Part of our wiki experience is going to be to “scribe” this class on a regular basis. That means taking what we do daily in class and reconstructing it on the wiki.

What am I scribing?

For every day in class, I have put up a page on the wiki for every class day. What can you contribute?

  • The activities from the day
  • A list of concepts/vocabulary from the day's lessons
  • Assignments made for tomorrow
  • Additional resources like websites, pictures, etc. that you might find that go with the lesson

When am I expected to do it?

  • You should cover the class within a day or so of its existence
  • This is a homework assignment; you are expected
  • Others might choose to do the same day as you. If they get there before you, add to their work (don't destroy or delete!) or add interesting links to picture, or other resources.
  • I will be assigning grades for this the week before semester finals. If you wait until that week to contribute, your grade will suffer. You should aim to contribute once or twice a week.

Am I graded on this?

Yes! These points should be easy, easy, easy.
